Song Description

Kalimba is one of my favorite instruments. It is based on the mbira, which is a thumb piano with rattles attached to it. Kalimba removes the rattles. It is is the high chimey instrument, primarily on the Right channel. The electric guitar also has a bit of a chimey tone, played on my Taylor T5z with some mild flange and a nice delay. It is mostly an improvised part and not designed to be a "melody," but I forgive you if you see it that way. It detunes a little at the end, but I left it in because I think it compliments the world feel.

Story Behind the Song

I originally was going for a laid-back song to highlight the kalimba, an African thumb piano, which has a timbre not unlike a music box. I ended up keeping it as a background, mood-setting instrument.
