Story Behind The Song

The song is the story of my life so far. It is a song for my father. When I was very young, my father tried to explain the meaning of the word 'distance'. He stood next to me and said "I'm close", then he went to the other end of the garden and said "now i'm in the DISTANCE". So I, being a foolish child, walked up beside him and asked "am I in the distance now too daddy?"

Song Description

In The Distance is a very complicated song and can be broken up into sections: Verse 1 is about my general feeling of worthlessness I experienced while growing up. Verse 2 and 3 are about an event that took place during my late teenage years. In The Distance was written at a time when I felt it difficult to accept responsibility for my own short comings, so I blamed my parents.
