Story Behind The Song
I had this song kind of brewing for a while -- at first, it was about a guy trying to convince his jealous girlfriend that knowing he loved her should be enough to earn his trust, but I couldn't quite make it work.
Then, I saw a video on my friend Pamie's site (pamie.com) where she and a friend of hers discussed at length the "case for settling." They were talking about how romantic leads in rom-coms frequently have that person already that's either with them or right in front of them, when they meet each other and decide that those other people don't count.
While I see that in the movies, I don't see that in life, so I wrote a song about not settling.
Song Description
Subdued brushed drums and a ceaseless one-note piano line underscore a sweet but sad song about a couple looking at their relationship and finding that what they've done is settled for each other.

Lyrics
if i say i like you
and you say you like me
over a lukewarm cup of coffee
if i amuse you
and you don't annoy me
and we agree loneliness gets boring
if we both concede
we share the sweet rapport of lust
but it ain't love
is it enough?
it could be magic
it could be winning
it could be everything we could be
but it could be tragic
we could be losing
our perfect friendship
just by choosing
not to keep each other's hearts
in mind and use kid gloves
'cause it ain't love
but is it enough?
we can't ignore it
it's a shame we brought it up
'cause it ain't love
it's not enough
