Lyrics
I Wish You Enough
Patricia W. Felker
(based on a story by Bob Perks. Used with permission.)
Verse 1:
He had long, bushy eyebrows, his beard stubbly gray
And his misty blue eyes would remember this day
His weathered old hands held his daughter's damp face
He was holdin' her close as she went away
Those last few words gently spoke in her ear
Would carry her through the years
Chorus:
I wish you enough good things to sustain you
Enough sun to make you feel bright
Enough rain to long for the sunshine
Enough life to keep satisfied
Verse 2:
As she walked down the corridor, disappeared out of sight
He saw one more wave, then she boarded her flight
He sighed there in silence, then waved back in kind
He was seein' his darlin'
the very last time
As he faced the end of his days unafraid
He made the same parting wish...his daddy made
(Repeat Chorus)
I wish you enough pain to know good times
Enough joy to keep you alive
Enough loss to need what you're holdin'
Enough "hellos" for the final goodbye
Enough loss to need what you're holdin'
Enough "hellos" for the final goodbye
