Story Behind The Song
Spill Some Oil
Originally written in 1989 by Fort Lauderdale band Ordinary Language as a seething outcry to protest Exxon's careless dumping of oil and destruction of Prince Williams Sound in Alaska.
The Valdez spill (brought to you by Exxon), considered to be one of the most devastating human caused environmental disasters ever to occur in history, until the despicable 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill (brought to you by BP).
Residing in South Florida, Ordinary Language could not possibly sit silently on the sideline and watch an even more egregious destruction of our beloved planet and lifestyle.
To again lead the parade, Ordinary Language reunited to rewrite Spill Some Oil and record this new version to again speak out on behalf of Mother Nature and all those opposed to the corporate greed and carelessness in which they treat with our environment!
NO OFFSHORE DRILLING!!!
Song Description

Lyrics
Captain, Captain We've lost the rig,
Captain, Captain been blown to bits.
Captain, Captain Eleven men are down,
Deepwater Horizon, they'll never be found.
This is the story that keeps making rounds,
Not a lesson learned from Prince William Sound.
Louisiana marshes all covered in oil,
BP's plan was made to foil.
Hey! Spill Some Oil! (x2)
Texas City and Prudhoe Bay,
BP execs keep getting their way.
Tony Hayward says it ain't so bad,
The fisherman's face looks oh so sad.
Off shore drilling and a pot of gold,
Don't believe all the lies you're told.
When will we ever learn from greed?
Money isn't everything!
Hey! Spill Some Oil (x4)
