Story Behind The Song
My father, Angel Ricardo Nunez, was born and raised in Cuba. When the pope made his first visit to Cuba, my dad called me and he was so moved by the event that I immediately began composing 'Havana' based on our late night conversation.
Song Description
Its is sad to know that in this day and age people can still be held captive in their own country. Havana is a beautiful place, but, it is so oppressed by Fidel Castro. This song is a plea to let those people be truly free!

Lyrics
He came and laid his hands on wounded hearts
Bringing message of love
Wiping clean the film that dulls the light
Caressing faces stained with pain
But like all good things they must come and go
And we must learn to walk alone
The skies over Havana
Oh they cry, they cry tonight
The skies over Havana
They cry out, they cry out, they cry out
Over paradise
In cities rich with freedom mercy dies
The merciless are free to roam
An island tucked away from peering eyes
Held captive by one of its own
The skies over Havana
Oh they cry, they cry tonight
The skies over Havana
They cry out, they cry out, they cry out
`
Abre los cielos deja el oceano volar
No es muy tarde para rectificar
{Chorus Repeat}
