Story Behind The Song
Brian's loving relationship (and everybody's at one point or another) coming to end and realization setting in that he is being thrust back into the dating pool that he considers a glorified rat race
Song Description
The song is part inner monologue, part confession to a lost lover. It contrasts the many feelings that one experiences. Starting with innocent thoughts and the attempt to just relax the thoughts wander through extremes such as self affirmation, dispair, disbelief and perceived closure - in the end disbelief overwhelms.

Lyrics
Part time, full time - one of a kind
This fleeting love has driven me blind
Sitting in the park without shoes or socks
Wonderin' whatever happened to New Kids on the Blocks
See that commercial or hear that tune
Believing something special should happen in June
Down the toilet like a dead cockroach
I can do this on my own without you or a coach
Chorus:
If you're playing with fire you're gonna get burned
Same way lovin' gave me no return
Everything I remember puts a smile on my face
It's just so fucked up I'm back in the rat race
Rain still falls and people get wet
I may not be there right now the best is ahead of me yet
Finally a reason, someone new in my life
I bet I'll find love absent your asking price
Time to go, I'm late for the show
But all of this shit I thought you should know
Pictures of you still run thru my head
But s far as I'm concerned I'm better off dead
Chorus
