Story Behind The Song
I go through times feeling like this, especially being the in the music industry! Sometimes it feels like you are so numb that you need some kind of fuel injection to get you back up - I've seen the same thing in other people and friends which led me to write this song.
Song Description
Too much TV, not hearing back from people you reach out to, generally being over stimulated by this modern world leaves the character unable to feel any emotion at all. It's like they need sugar injected straight into their veins for them to feel anything real as they have become so far removed - unable to feel the tragedy of war as they see it so often and have become desensitized. This character has long forgotten what it is to really live, he/she doesn't get it but a voice in their heads keeps saying clear all of this nonsence away, seize the day as there won't be any better ones coming.

Lyrics
Sugar in My Veins
Got vultures in my mailbox
Too much lies in these ears
What I see on my TV
Almost brings me to tears
Nothing comes to this empty drum
Not even the rain fills me up
Nothing comes to this empty one
Not even laughter fills my cup
Put some sugar in my veins
So my heart feels sweet again
Colour in my eyes
So I can?t see these grey skies
Do it right now
I don?t want to hear you say
There?ll be better days
These bright hues disappear
The summer is almost done
Got too much sand in my soul
And dust in my lungs
Nothing comes to this late sun
Not even the rays light me up
Nothing comes to this cold one
Not even your eyes or your touch
Put some sugar in my veins
So my heart feels sweet again
Colour in my eyes
So I can?t see these grey skies
Do it right now
I don?t want to hear you say
There?ll be better days
