Story Behind The Song
I wanted to create a song that answered the man in the song "Creep" by Radiohead.
Song Description
"Not Your Shadow" is a response to "Creep" told from a woman's perspective, reframing insecurity and self-loathing through empathy, clarity, and grounded love. The song highlights how men and women often experience the same emotions differently--where one sees unworthiness, the other sees humanity, connection, and truth.

Lyrics
Not Your Shadow
Verse 1
You hang your head when you look my way,
Like you're carryin' sins you can't repay.
But I don't need a saint carved outta stone,
I'd rather love a man who feels like home.
Chorus
I don't need a creep, I don't need a crown,
I want the real you, not the ghost you drown.
You call yourself less than what I know you to be,
You're not my shadow -- you're everything to me.
Verse 2
You whisper "weirdo" like it seals your fate,
But I've seen worse men hide behind their hate.
Don't make me holy, don't build that throne,
I bleed like you, I'm flesh and bone.
Chorus
I don't need a creep, I don't need a crown,
I want the real you, not the ghost you drown.
You call yourself less than what I know you to be,
You're not my shadow -- you're everything to me.
Bridge
You disappear when I meet your eyes,
But I'm not the judge and I ain't the jury tonight.
If you could see the fire you've already lit,
You'd stop runnin' scared, you'd lean into it.
Final Chorus
I don't need a creep, I don't need a crown,
Your broken edges are where my love is found.
Stop fallin' apart in the dark where you bleed,
You're not my shadow -- you're all I need.
Outro
Not my shadow...
You're everything to me.
