Song Description

Solo violin gives this song a very strong gypsy flavour but modern beat adds contemporary world feeling. Each singer of NARIA group takes turns to sing some solo lines, all together they sing dynamic chorus.

Story Behind the Song

Being an opera singer for 15 years, I fell in love with classical repertoire. However, being open to all different genres in music, the idea behind this composition is to make classical to be more contemporary and desirable to younger audience. I also loved the theme of mother daughter relationship and passing on family legacy.

Lyrics

Když mne stará matka zpívat, zpívat ucívala,
podivno, že casto, casto slzívala.

When my dear mother taught me how to talk and how to sing
When my dear mother taught me how to take and how to give
When my dear mother taught me how to play an instrument
When my dear mother taught me how to live and be content

Nai-na, na na ni , Nai-na sing my violin
Nai-na, na na ni , Nai-na play my tambourine
HEY!

When my dear mother taught me how to shop and how to dance
When my dear mother taught me how to give a second chance
When my dear mother taught me how to play a fair game
When my dear mother taught me how to never, never, never, never feel the shame

When my dear mother taught me
When my dear mother taught me
When my dear mother taught me
When my dear mother taught me
When my dear mother taught me
When my dear mother taught me
