The Farewell Song

Story Behind The Song

We have moved so many times and have had so many of our Christian brethren move away. I usually sing this song at the farewell dinner or service.

Song Description

"We are going to miss you, brethren". The first line says it all, but the song goes on to encourage the Body of Christ to be faithful to Jesus and keep clean from sin. The final verse celebrates our final reunion at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Lyrics

The Farewell Song

We are gonna miss you, brethren
When you're gone, when we're gone away.
The sweetness of your spirit,
The warmth of God's sun ray.
You've loved us, Oh you've loved us
With the love of Jesus Christ
We never will forget the way
Your friendship blessed our lives
Jesus lives in you
He lives in you.
Hallelujah.

A word before we leave you
I guess there's just one thing to say:
Brethren, keep on seeking Jesus
And follow in His holy way.
Keep your eyes on the Savior
And your feet out of Satan's sin
Tell your friends the testimony
Of how Jesus lets you in
Into His glory, Oh glory,
Hallelujah.

We'll see you at the wedding
The marriage feast of the Lamb
When we'll all be with Jesus
Sitting at the Father's hand
In the glorious land of Zion
Where Jesus reigns as King
We'll live in peace and harmony
And "Praise You, Jesus" sing
With all of you brethren
Oh praise You, Jesus
Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

Beautiful Christian Contemporary offering. Well written and sung. Music is minimalist just enough to fill in the song and keep a melody. Well produced and a 'treasure' of a song!

A blessing. Vocals and melody are quite strong. Love the flute--special.

Beautiful voice and guitar!!! This song really stood out. Definitely not just another song that sounds like all the rest. It was eat candy for my, very sweet

Sounds like my dear friend Mrs. Kate has done it again. Your sincere love for the Lord shines through in your songs. This song is so soothing and assuring.

This is just so pleasing, nice harmony....you give such a great sound...I think I know you...is this maybe a little older song?

I love the lyrics and subject of Christ living in us. This was a nice reminder to keep depending on the Lord. The song was sweet and memorable. It could be played for a choir or sung by and individual. I liked the flute playing in the middle. It was a very sweet song.

Vocalist has a pretty sweet voice! Perfect arrangement for a single vocalist playing her own instrument solo.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!--i wouldn't change a thing!--thanxs--joe
