Story Behind The Song
This is the second song I wrote after becoming a Christian. I was working at Lassen Volcanic National Park. A bunch of us Christian employees decided to camp out near the stream overnight. I was the first one up, got the campfire started and poof! God gave me this simple song of praise. Enjoy the "vintage recording!"

Lyrics
THANK YOU, JESUS
Copyright 1972 by Kate Carpenter
Good morning, dear Jesus
Thank You for this day.
The stream sings your praises
and me, I just pray.
Oh, thank You so much
for the gifts You bestowed.
I'm glad that You sent me
down Your one way road.
Chorus: And I sing
Thank You Jesus
Oh thank You, my Lord
I asked for salvation,
But you gave me more.
The campfire is crackling
The sun's poking through
Your children are awaking
to a new day in You.
We used to be wildflowers
but now we are tame
And so we sing praises
to our Savior's name.
The trees lift their branches
and I lift my hands
I'm called for to serve You
fulfill Your commands
But who could complain
in a labor of love
For the blessings rain down
Hundred-fold from above.
When I was so blind
I kept seeking the trail
I thought I'd found freedom
But boy, did I fail!
Thank You, my Father
for sending Your Son
The victory over this sinner is won!
