Fearsome Blues

Story Behind The Song

One year the theme for our kids camp was "Fear Factor". This was the theme song I wrote for camp. It only had one verse. I felt like it needed more. So I wrote to some of my little fans and asked them what they were afraid of and incorporated their ideas into this song. These kids are listed in the credits on my new CD as "Childhood Fear Consultants".

Song Description

Kids are scared of lots of things. This song addresses specific fears and directs children to trust in God. His perfect love casts out fear.

Lyrics

You touched a warty frog
You teased a mean old dog
You got lost in the fog - You're scared.
You watched a gory flick
It made you awful sick
The bad dreams won't quit - you're scared

You thought you heard a rat
Imagined vampire bats
You're such a fraidy cat, you're scared.
Mama turned out the light
Said, "Get used to the night!"
But you can't shake your fright - you're scared.

So whatcha gonna do, old chicken liver?
Make like a bowl of Jello and quiver?
Or will you trust in the Courage Giver
To blast your fearsome blues?

You say your dad skipped town
And your grades went down
Got your face in a frown - you're scared.
You cheated on a test
Now your mind's a mess
And you wanna confess but you're scared.

So whatcha gonna do....

Our God says, "Do not fear, for I am with you.
I am with you. I will bless you."
Perfect love casts out fear.
Even if they know karate
Even if they kill your body
Jesus says, "Do not fear!"
Do not fear for I am with you.
I am with you. I will bless you.
There is no fear in love!

The kids at school are mean
Said you need Listerine?
Act like you're quarantined - You're scared.
And then the bully cussed
Called you names on the bus
Ground your face in the dust - you're scared.

It is a great music but needs some lyrics.

T here are several very cute lyrics in the song, but not enough to win me over big time! Sorry!

The lyric is excellent...a really cool upbeat song you have here

Ya did it again as always

Nice for a children's tune.

I like the part about trusting in the courage giver

I would not put this in blue gospel
More like children's ministry

Awesome song. Teaching kids about the Lord, I love it. Nicely done.

I'm going to review this song based on the style and genre, and not on personal preference. I do not listen to this type of music, however I could imagine her younger population, especially children, really enjoying this song. The lyrics we're fun and the song has a nice rhythm to it reminiscent of a children's song or nursery rhyme. The Voice fits the song well.

Excellent intro with the Harmonica. Loved it! Well balanced production
and always wonderful to actually hear the lyrics! Professional piece!

ok...this song was unique for me. In a good way. I kinda didn't get it with all of the tempo changes. It threw me off a bit. But i got it in the end about fear. Loved the vocals. Good lead...did you multitrack one voice? great pitch. Maybe more harmony like you did in the end. Keep up the good work. I'd like to hear the lead vocal doing another genre.

very fresh and nice spirit vocales great and best wishes

Wonderful, strong lyrical content!! You probably named this "no fear in love",...but should be are you scared? I thought the song was VERY appropriate for Vacation bible project.
Or marketing pn youtube with cool kids you had backing you up to do the video.
You have obviously been writing for awhile.
Just need this in every church and school in the nation :-)

I like the overall theme and content of this song.

It diffinately makes me smile with joy. Like riding on a journey with Jesus inside and feeling no fear. I get where you are going with this and I like it. No Fear should be your title and limit some of your lyrics so you can rock out a little. I love me some Jesus, and this song expresses your faith with No Fear.

It seems like this song is targeted to the childrens market and if so then really good for this. The hook around not fearing is good but could have been a little bit more repetitive to get the point across. The vocals are excellent for the Childrens market, for the blues market a little more air and grunge would be great. No artist comes to mind which shows the uniqueness of this work.

I loved the harmonica and the fun upbeat melody. I always recognize your songs, you always have a bit of humor mixed in with a fun school. I liked that you tried to connect to a young person through a cute song. I liked that you used the scriptures and made it the chorus. What a fun children's song. This was fun to listen to.

Good message God is with us.. Clever lyrics. Catchy melody.

The instrumental track sounds good, it has a nice country feel.

quirky fun county blues track. likeable and enjoyable fun.
ideal kids song. liked the cool ending

Unique quality of expressing the Gospel

very well done. cleverly written, well sung, well played. love it!
