Story Behind The Song
I was performing at Pine Castle Pioneer Days in Orlando, FL. The acoustic stage was located about 50 feet from the Bounce House. I looked on it with longing. After I got back to the place we were staying, the song just started coming to me and wouldn't quit till I finished. The amazing guy playing the piano is my friend Scott Griffin of Captivating Keyboards, Chicago, IL. Isn't he incredible?
Song Description
Here's a funny song about a grandma who wants to get inside the bounce house and have fun with all the kids. But alas, rules are rules and she isn't allowed to jump with the kids. In her mind's eye, she gets in and romps with the kids, finally injuring herself, being transported to the hospital in an ambulance (and laughing her head off). Song concludes with a heavenly journey, knocking on St. Peter's door. There she can jump to her heart's content!

O I wish I could go in the bounce house
But I don't think that they would allow
A granny with gray hair and wrinkles
To jump with the kids anyhow.
But what fun it would be to go flying
Through the air with the greatest of ease.
O doorkeeper, just for a minute!
Let me in for a spin, O pretty please!
O I wish I could go in the bounce house!
I'd tumble my tush through the door.
I promise I won't squish the toddlers
Or knock little boys to the floor.
O what fun it would be to go jumping
Through the air with the greatest of ease
O doorkeeper, just for a minute!
Let me in for a spin, O pretty please!
O I wish I could go in the bounce house!
I might try a flip or a twirl
I shoot like a streak through the tunnel
And laugh with the loud little girls.
O what fun it would be to just giggle!
Feel the mess and the stress slip away.
O doorkeeper, just for a minute.
Let me in for a spin; I wanna play.
O I wish I could go in the bounce house.
I'd scream at the top of my lungs. (scream)
I fly down the slide like a viper
Jar my knees, wrench my back and bite my tongue.
What a thrill it would be to go speeding
Down the streets with the sirens a-blare.
Now the doorkeeper, he's in big trouble
For letting this grandma in there.
And now for the singing 911 phone call: (bridge)
Hello Operator, please send me a team
To rescue this grandma who thinks she's thirteen.
Send straitjacket, stretcher. Restrain her, I say
Please hurry and take her away. (ha ha ho ho hee hee)
O I wish I could go in the bounce house!
But maybe I'll dive in my dreams.
I'll slip, slamming into the netting
With waffles etched into my cheeks.
But what fun it would be to go flying
Through the air with the greatest of ease.
I guess I'll just wait for the rapture.
Beam me up through the skies
Kiss old gravity goodbye
Beam me up, let me soar
Hey, I'll knock on heaven's door
Oh St. Peter, let me in
On your c louds to take a spin....
Through the air with the greatest of ease.
Doorkeeper, please!
