Story Behind The Song
I stayed up all night and wrote four songs this was one of the four. The songs came out of me as fast as I could write them, almost like I had wrote them before. The ghost of a song almost. That is what this song reflects upon.
Song Description
The singer senses the presence of a lost love in the house they lived in together. A ghost love almost, that he doesn't mind living with to be close to his lost love.

Lyrics
TIllNGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
WORDS AND MUSIC:
MONTE THOMAS
VERSE:
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN
I START TO HEAR FAMILIAR SOUNDS
THERE'S A SLAMMING DOOR, LIKE THE NIGHT YOU LEFT
AND IT KEEPS SLAMMING AGAIN AND AGAIN
CHORUS:
OH, THE THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
AND THE SOUNDS I NEVER HEAR IN THE DAYLIGHT
SINCE YOU'VE GONE, I FEEL YOU CLOSE
I DON'T BELIEVE IN THE BOOGIE MAN
BUT I SURE BELIEVE IN YOUR GHOST
AND THE THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
VERSE:
THERE'S FOOTSTEPS DOWN THE HALL, WALKING AWAY
AND A HEART BEATS NEXT TO ME, BUT IT'S REALLY FAINT
AND LONELY CRYING, ECHOES THROUGH THE HOUSE
YOUR GHOST COMES IN WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE:
I HOPE YOU HAUNT ME TILL THE DAY I DIE
IF I CAN'T TOUCH YOU, YOU'LL STILL BE NEARBY
WITH THE THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
REPEAT CHORUS
