Story Behind The Song
My very close nephew (Matthew) of 17 years young tragically died on 01-19-05. After that I had writers block for several months and finally woke up early one morning with this melody in my head. I decided to write about that day of what we were all going through when my nephew unexpectedly died. It was hard to put into words and express what I was feeling in that 24 hours, the worst day of my life, especially my brother (Jim) and his wife.
I remembered everything about that cold sad day, along with all the other tragic news in the world.
I wrote this song about never knowing when we will die and when it might be that last time we see our loved ones. You only get one chance in life to tell your own flesh and blood of how much you love them.
You'll never know when your time is up and when it might be that one last time to say, goodbye.....
Song Description
This song is about people we love and cherish the most in life. Something happened in my life that opened my eyes and ears to all the bad news in the media. I began to really notice more crime, kidnappings, suicides and of course the war going on in the world. I started to think of how horrible it is to lose a family member, especially a child.
One cool morning I woke up, let the dog out, fed the cat and had a fresh hot cup of coffee and wrote this song. We are not meant to be here forever and it is everyone's destiny to eventually die.It sounds sad but true, so never take someone's love and duration of their life for granted.
