Story Behind The Song
Plain and simple, my dog Jed had died of cancer. The most amazing dog in the world. Smart, loving, and such a tough guy at 140 lbs! Well, I had been very distant from him for a long time, and would even ignore him or push him away when I was busy. I was informed by phone one day by family that he was at the vet and had to be put to sleep...I was offered time to make it to see him one last time, but was out of town. I COULD have made it (to this day I wish I had), but had to deal with some other things that were going on that day. Maybe fear of saying goodbye stopped me as well, but when I got home, I took an instrumental that had been unused for years, and in only 5 grueling minutes, had written the song for him. I tearfully sang it. I went with the idea that he'll miss me, as opposed to just another "I'll miss you" kind of song, because I knew that every time I would listen to the song saying he'll miss me, I would really believe it, and feel a little bit of comfort. He does miss me..............
Song Description
This song deals with the loss of a loved one. This is a VERY sad song, but instead of saying that the subject will be missed, the viewpoint is reversed: A glimmer of peace and hope is presented by the song saying that the deceased will miss the writer...One would *probably* be able to deal with the death of a loved one if they were assured that that loved one would miss them just as much, right? That is the message of this song.
