Stand Up Tall

Story Behind The Song

First written as a rant of daily news items the song quickly became a fan favourite when crowds began singing along through the catchy chorus as well as calling out responses to certain parts of the song. The idea of a small room/bar as a a local spot where like minded could meet to 'get away' from their troubles seems to be what people really take away from this song. It continues to be a fan favourite every time it's played and has been dubbed by some as 'The Best Drinking Song Ever!'

Song Description

This is a song about a small local bar where people can meet up to collectively drown their sorrows regarding global concerns or personal problems. A place where "we" are all together against "them"! The anthem-like chorus allows for the release of all tension to be experienced through your alcoholic beverage of choice and to stand in unison against the troubles of the world. The last verse brings back the reality of having to return to the dull mundane work day but gives promise and hope to the idea that we can all get together after again to stand, with drinks in hand and drown our troubles in a glass one more time. Stand Up Tall!!

Lyrics

Stand Up Tall

I'm fed up with all the shite that's going down around here
And all the pain I'm going through
Well I hope and I pray just to make it through the day
And in 1 piece or at least standing on 2 feet.

There's a little place I know where troubles can be buried
Just like the hatchet or a bone
When I'm there I just don't care
It's like I'm flying through the air
And I won't land, until I get a beer in my hand.

Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
We'll all feel better, better than before. Don't ya know?
Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
And in the end, we're gonna raise one more.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think alcoholism can conquer much
And I still don't like throwing up.
But I know tha it's true when they say, "this one's for you"
That's what they mean, man, that's this one's just for me.

Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
We'll all feel better, better than before. Don't ya know?
Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
And in the end, we're gonna raise one more.

Another Monday morning comes creeping up behind me
I drag my butt right out of bed.
To work I go, to make some dough,
Cuz, there's this little place I know
Where all your troubles can be buried just like a bone!

Hold it! If for some forgotten reason.
If the mood just suits you right,
Perhaps you'll come on by and sing our song tonight!

Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
We'll all feel better, better than before. Don't ya know?
Stand up tall, raise a glass, tell the world to kiss my a**
And in the end, we're gonna raise one more.
