Pressure Feat. Krosst Out

Story Behind The Song

"It's been a long time coming. I've put a lot of thought into my music over the last year and with my producer Aaron Atkins, we produced a whole new era of what we call New Retro Pop tracks. The vibe sits a lot in that 2005-2011 dance era. Inspirations range from Madonna, Britney Spears, Timbaland, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, and a revival of dubstep. The songs are about rebelling and overcoming modern society and its social and superficial pressures, while reminiscing about a time when music felt better to me. As a woman and non conformist in today's society, it's been hard to find my place in the music industry. Instead of fitting in, I am making my own lane. This new single, Pressure Feat. Krosst Out, is an epic rebirth, an empowering dance anthem dedicated to my fanbase online called The Rebelz." -Melotika

Song Description

Deriving inspiration from all eras of pop music, Melotika blends sounds and looks characteristic of the late '70s and '80s, with stylistic and musical influences from the mid-late '00s era. Her music almost becomes experimental in combining so many styles from different time periods, but it's still undeniably catchy, danceable pop, and makes no pretensions about being anything else. Singing with a signature low register, Melotika brings back a grandiose, larger-than-life superstar quality that is a stark contrast to the modern, stripped-down, indie approach many opt for. With Melotika remaining the executive producer of her own music, coming out in 2023 is her newest effort, Ultra Butterfly, an album that sounds like the pop era of 2009 in an alternate, more modern universe, while dipping into alternative styles of rap and post-rock music as well. The album's first single out now, "Pressure" featuring Krosst Out, is packed with groove, is as electric as it gets, and perfectly walks the line between neo and retro--everything Melotika is all about. The song sings about overcoming society and it's pressures. Fighting through life's obstacles, "Pressure" is an empowerment anthem about overcoming modern society and its social and superficial pressures, rebelling against social standards, and combining the old with the new what Melotika calls 'Retro Pop.'

Lyrics

Breaking down isn't the worst thing that could ever ever happen to you
Pick yourself back up it's the cycle
the end is never meant to be true

Welcome to the club where we compromise
Who we are is penetrated with lies
Sorry that i'm not the one who often denies
Or plays it off like we are all alright, yeah

Not giving up, the sky is not so high
Is it enough? to learn how to fly
Spin yourself round and round
Let music make you lose control
A secret that is left untold, It's telling you to let it go

Breaking down isn't the worst thing that could ever ever happen to you
Pick yourself back up its the cycle the end is never meant to be true
Its time to move on and carry your song
When you're deep in so much pressure
I swear it will get better, Yeah

Do you really like the things we do for free
Is it true that you're a prodigy?
There's a lot of things in which I disagree
The truth is now a new mythology, yeah

Not giving up the sky is not so high
Is it enough? to learn how to fly
Spin yourself round and round
Let music make you lose control
A secret that is left untold
It'll take you where you want to go

Yeah, So much for amounting to nothin,
So much for the punk with no options
Epitome of getting it out the mud, but do it while running.
Juggle everything you work for...
Concentrate, don't drop it
Acrobatic with it, the way we made our talent flip, it's,
Exhibit A of extreme athleticism
A gymnast in this rap sh*
A mogul with these assets
Fuck a top 10 and all your other options
What even is a notable achievement when you ain't got hits?
Pop charts are a miss
Underground is where I've been
Underrated is what I am
Congratulations you made it for being the same

Breaking down isn't the worst thing that could ever ever happen to you
Pick yourself back up its the cycle the end is never meant to be true
Its time to move on and carry your song
When you're deep in so much pressure
I swear it will get better, Yeah

So much pressure, so much pressure, so much pressure, yeah
So much pressure, so much pressure, so much pressure, yeah

And the best goes, down

When you feel like falling and you feel so out of place,
listen to the music spin around pick up the pace
Get back on your feet again it's so easy
Get back on your feet again it's too easy

Breaking down isn't the worst thing that could ever ever happen to you
Pick yourself back up its the cycle the end is never meant to be true
Its time to move on

So much pressure, so much pressure, so much pressure, yeah
So much pressure, so much pressure, so much pressure, yeah
