When I first came to this country when life was a gift this land gave to me.
When Pepsi was the new drink I had, in between English and my dad?s three jobs.

And in its rays I found, my path, encouraged by the dreams of this great land.

But, yes, I remember our first home, in the middle of Mami, where things got rough?
People did what they could to survive, surely if they did they?d be prepared to fly.

Let me tell you about the first car we had, it was a Chrysler Lebaron of the year 85;
Way past its prime, I guess like us, with a faulty engine and a few bulletholes?

It wasn?t glamorous but it took us to school, after a few tune-ups, well more than a few,
Its life seemed to end, but it lived for us, though old and battered, it never gave up?
