It was 3am she turned to me and said

Through the heat of a midwest summer
came the chill of breaking up
and as she drove away that morning I just watched

then I left for California 3 months after that bitter end
I did my best to catch the sunset when it came
that was her favorite time of day
she was the most I had ever loved
