Winds of Change

Story Behind The Song

Winds of Change, was written during a Ladies Rock camp, a collaboration of writers, myself, Sarah Chrysler, Judi Alvarado, Lynda McAfee, Heather Williams, and the leadership of our coach Beth Kille! The idea behind the song is the being on the edge or cusp of change. Feeling a restless stirring, a need to chart a new course, but not exactly sure where the new road taken will lead. There is an uncertainty that stepping out of one's comfort zone brings. But the dreamer has awakened, cannot be stopped and has taken steps on the journey. Envisioning, reaching out and empowering yourself, hoping that enlightenment will illuminate the path and you will have the strength and grace to keep moving forward. Somewhere along the way, you realize what you need to do, and where you are going. Fear no longer holds you back as you make your way through sometime stormy winds and rains. Your path of change is finally clear!

Winds of Change Lynn Gillitzer, Sarah Chrysler, Judi Alvarado, Lynda McAfee, and Heather Williams (Ladies Rock Camp) © 2016
The path is unclear driving down the highway
Taking control out of the fog that left me blind
Now I see, I see the light of day
My soul has awakened to what I left behind
PRECHORUS
I'm moving on, it's my time to steer
CHORUS
The winds of change are at my door
Where they lead I'm not sure
Take the wheel forge ahead
Down the road see where I'm lead
Trying to make sense of the rhythm and rhyme
Watching the sands through the hourglass of time
Sometime we get lost in the mist of our lives
Going through the motions trying to survive
PRECHORUS
I'm moving on, it's time to break free
CHORUS
The winds of change are at my door
Where they lead I'm not sure
Take the wheel forge ahead
Down the road see where I'm lead

BRIDGE
Open roads (empower me, empower me)
Open roads (enlighten me, enlighten me)
Open roads strengthen me
PRECHORUS
I'm moving on, it's my time to steer
BREAKDOWN CHORUS
The winds have changed I'm at my door
I found the road I am looking for
What lies ahead is crystal clear
I've broken free I have no fear
