Crazy (Wild Heart)

Story Behind The Song

I always wanted to write a classic style country song in the vein of artists like Emmylou Harris and Patsy Cline etc. But I also wanted to give that old country sound a fresh current flavour too. It's a forbidden love story and I'm really proud of the lyrics on this one, it's probably the best song I have written so far!! :-)

Song Description

Crazy (Wild Heart) is a song set in the Wild West of America. The story surrounds a young girl named Claire who is living in a small country town where everyone knows everything and word spreads fast. To make matters worse, she is the Sheriffs only daughter. When a young Buckeroo named Joe comes to town and catches her eye the town goes crazy as does her disapproving father. They begin a love affair and sets tongues wagging but when Daddy finds out he frames poor Joe and runs him out of town behind Claire's back. Upon noticing Claire is pregnant he marries her off to save any shame to the family. Claire is heartbroken and wishes one day on his return if not for her then for his son.

Lyrics

Crazy (Wild Heart)

Claire was just a girl from the middle of nowhere
Joe was just an up and go, he didn't have a care
Till he set his sights upon her
There was something there from the start
In little sleepy towns it's hard to keep it quiet
Her daddy was the sheriff and he said he didn't like it
I guess it's kinda foolish thinkin she could tie a man like that down

CHORUS
Cra - Crazy - Crazy to love a wild, wild heart

Summer air was hot
And thick just like molasses
And Daddy tried his best but couldn't stop the winds of passion
And Claire would always go then be back home before the light hit the ground
Then one fateful day
A warrant from the sheriff
Felony in first degree
Joe said I didn't do it
But then before Claire knew it
Joe was nowhere to be found

CHORUS
Cra - Crazy - Crazy to love a wild, wild heart
Cra - Crazy - Crazy to love a wild, wild heart

Bridge (Instrumental)

Seasons came and went
Life was back in order
And plans were made to save the shame of sheriff's only daughter
And whispers on the corner said that Joe was wanted in Mexico
Claire was getting by but sometimes in the evening
She's think of Joe, the man who didn't know what he was leaving
His baby's in there sleeping but when is his Dad coming home?

CHORUS
Cra - Crazy - Crazy to love a wild, wild heart
Cra - Crazy - Crazy to love a wild, wild heart
