Story Behind The Song
Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson was, arguably, the finest Confederate General and perhaps THE finest of the entire war. He was shot by friendly fire in 1863 at the Battle of Chancellorsville and died 10 days later of pneumonia.

Lyrics
he was revered by Blacks, slave and free
ladies fought for the buttons on his sleeves
all the lines of blue
he could easily deceive
when his boys blood began to spill
called to his men up on Henry House Hill
"let us determine to die here
and conquer we will
he was a rock, he was my friend
it was there at Chancellorsville he met his end
he was so brave, i never thought he'd fall
old Blue Kight never crumbled
he was just a Stone Wall
Into the valley marched so many guns
he came outnumbered at least 4 to 1
Richmond was saved
by the fightin' he'd done
then the news came Old Jack did depart
Lee cried "i've lost my right arm and my heart"
and the "end state" wont work
aint noone as smart
he was a rock, he was my friend
it was there at Chancellorsville he met his end
he was so brave, i never thought he'd fall
old Blue Kight never crumbled
he was just a Stone Wall
then on May 10, 1863
it was on Sunday his spirit did break free
he drew his last breath and whispered in the breeze
"let's cross the river and rest under the shady trees"
he was a rock, he was my friend
it was there at Chancellorsville he met his end
he was so brave, i never thought he'd fall
old Blue Kight never crumbled
Tom Fool never stumbled
he was just a Stone Wall
