Last night I set to write the masterpiece
A sole reflection of ourselves
How many years will make my work complete,

The story will be told of a man and his son

But I?m (just) not sure how the ending goes

I took a page from my father?s book
I read the passage where his children never looked
I saw the man who stood to block the storm while I saw the sun,
I am charged with the sequel, and the story?s begun

Have I the right to shape the characters,
Or do the players shape themselves?
If I portray the person I?ve become,
How will I be changed as well?

The child will be born in chapter one
But I?ve got a block on what?s to come
The hardest lines to write that I?ve ever known

I told him that the past was on my mind
I told him that I knew how hard he tried
I could tell from the look that was in his eyes
