Story Behind The Song

I was asked by an aquaintance to write this song. She said her husband was going to Iraq and she wanted a song written to be performed at his going away party. She told me her thoughts and feelings about how she felt when he toldher he had to go away and had some bits and pieces of phrases written down about how she felt. I took it all in, came up with the melody and pieced the lyrics together and this was the result. A very touching song that points out that we should honor the soldiers for their sacrifice but we can't forget the price that their families pay as well.
