Story Behind The Song
M.L. Miller asked me to write a song to go with his classic kid's book. We thought it would be more fun to use our entire crew of kids on the song than just one lead singer, so we did. The only problem we had was when one little girl objected vehemently to the line, "I can play with the boys." She said she didn't like playing with boys. But we assured her that she'd probably like them a lot better in a few years...

Lyrics
Said the Princess
(little?s women?s lib.)
The princess said, ?Take it from me
A girl can be most anything a girl wants to be.?
The princess said from way up in a tree
?I can see the world from here ?n it?s
where I wanna be!
CHORUS:
?cause I can build a house, pay the rent, change a tire
I can drive a truck or be a plumber if I desire
Dizzy from the fools? Well then, I?m the one to choose
I?ll do the job so well we?ll never have to tell that
I?m a princess. So, what do you think?
A lot can be accomplished with a smile and a wink.?
The princess said, ?just check my application
Now that I?ve arrived, you can go on that vacation.
CHORUS:
I can mow the lawn, mend a fence, build a fire
I can even barbeque if I so desire
Dizzy from the fools? Well then, I?m the one to use
so keep an eye on me ?cause I?m makin? history?
said the princess?said the princess
The princess said, ?Times, they have changed
The world is really different now, it?s all rearranged.?
The princess said, ?Gonna kick up some dust.
I?m sowin? my oats, I?m makin? a fuss
CHORUS:
I can fly a jet, take it higher and higher
I can be a judge ?n bang my gavel if I desire
Dizzy from the fools? Well then, I?m the obvious choice
I may be a girl, but I can play with the boys
?n I can make you well, mend a heart, fix a wire
I can be the new CEO if I desire
getting? dizzy from the fools? I?m the one to choose
Just give me the chance??n watch as I dance?
?cause I?m a princess??said the princess?said the princess
