Story Behind The Song

This particular piece is a favorite of mine, and has a rather interesting and amusing history. Several months ago, I was approached by an old friend - a woman I had not seen nor heard from in over a decade. It was sort of like the movie Chasing Amy - I had been smitten with her, but, as fond as she was of me, she preferred dating other women. In any event, we did remain friends until losing touch for about fifteen years - and then, one day, out of the blue, I recieved a letter, forwarded by a family member. To make a long story short, she and her partner were planning to make a series of "machinema" films - a series - using the popular PC game, Sims 2. The title was to be "Sappho Beach" - a Sims version of Queer as Folk or The L Word, I suppose - and, remembering my brilliant music and our old acquaintance, wondered if I would consider doing a piece for the trailer. This was the piece. In keeping with the "tongue in cheek" spirit of the whole thing, I decided list the performers as Chuck "Simgione" and Carlos "Simtana." Unfortunately, my old friend - and her project - have again dropped out of sight, so I have no idea what became of it, or how it was used. It's still a nice piece of music, however.
