Song Description

A simple love song

Broadjam Member Reviews

Nice traditional sounding country folk vibe. The lyric is focused and the story clear. Melody bounces nicely and the instruments are played well.

    - Jeff Ashbaker

Even this is a sparse production, I really liked the mix and how the singer's voice is way out in front. It gives the tune a "live" feel, which makes it unique.

The vocals reminded me of Paul McCartney at times - very heartfelt and pleasant to the ears.

I loved the hook, as it was very catchy and memorable. The storyline is sweet and didn't seem contrived. The fiddle was a nice touch.

Very great effort overall!

    - Luanne Hunt
Lyrics

1
Put some water in my whisky
I will rosin up the bow
We'll play 'Midnight On the Water'
At least the parts we know

Put the bread into the oven
And we'll sing in harmony
Our parts just go together
Like a sunset and a sea

2
When our children were children
They'd play with their things
Make-believe people
Castles and kings

Then you'd read a bedtime story
And we'd sing their lullaby
Go to sleep our little darlings
And kiss the moon goodbye

Chorus
Some things go well
some things go wrong
But our life's
a simple song
We both new it
all along
Our love goes on and on
Our love goes on and on

3
We'll go walking after sunrise
In the early morning mist
Visit old friends in the village
We'd stop and reminisce

There's a an end to every story
But this story won't end soon
Until then will be contented
To sing a lovers tune.
