Song Description

Farmers observing damage done to their livelihood by the encroachment of big corporations -- causing rapid change not only to economics of farming but also to weather patterns through poor environmental practices

Story Behind the Song

I was helping a friend pain a cabin situated on a piece of farmland owned by a local farmer whose family had been there for three generations. The farmer came over for a chat and talked about the influx of factory farms in the area, the gargantuan amounts of waste they produced, and the impact they were having on the water table and the land in general.

Look down, see my muddy water run away
Look up, see my blue sky turn gray

So cry the many, so reap the few
Nothing for a poor man to do
Except look up at the sky and watch it change
Ain't the weather strange

Look over right, see the corporates moving in
There over left, where my neighbor should have been

Looking back, the weather never changed this fast
Look on ahead, this can never last
