Lyrics

THAT MAGICAL NIGHT
Words and Music by Ken Morrison (12/02-5/03)
Based upon the 1980 ballad by Ken Morrison
Copyright 1980 and 2003 by Kenneth L. Morrison All Rights Reserved

VERSE:
Lights were out, the night was very late
But I was still awake
Watching the stars
When the sky became so bright
The field was washed in light

VERSE:
I looked up, an amazing sight to see
For soaring over me
Was Santa?s sleigh
There he flew before my eyes
And his reindeer filled the skies

CHORUS:
He carried me on a magical flight
That jolly man filled my Christmas with delight
Once again I was a kid in Santa?s sight
I rode the rooftops with Santa that magical night

VERSE:
I rushed in to tell someone else
Couldn?t keep it to myself
I woke the children
Well it may only be a dream
But I told them what I?d seen

CHORUS:
He carried me on a magical flight
That jolly man filled my Christmas with delight
Once again I was a kid in Santa?s sight
I rode the rooftops with Santa that magical night
I rode with Santa that magical night
I rode with Santa that magical night

MUSIC VIDEO:
A music video for this song might begin with a parent (man or woman) sleeping in a chair in the den. While the person remains asleep, a ?ghost? of the person gets up and goes onto the patio to look at the night sky and begins singing the song. When Santa appears, the person goes for a ride in the sleigh and helps deliver gifts magically.

For the second verse, the ghost could rush in to wake the sleeping parent and then the parent rushes to wake the children. The family then goes onto the patio to look at the night sky and look for Santa.

The real focus here at the end is on the children, the light in their eyes, and the joy in the faces of the parent(s) as they spend a magical night with their children.

The jazz style of this song is similar to the style made popular by Harry Connick, Jr.
