Song Description

This song is background music for an intense road race scene between two female runners in the movie script for "I Ain't That Country.

Story Behind the Song

I've always wanted to make a 'drum only' song, and finally a situation arose where i had a chance to to just that. Scott Joyce, who I use for most of my production in Nashville, turned me onto Sean Paddock, just an amazing drummer who developed this drum melody for the song. I am also trying to push this as background music for a running shoe commercial.

Broadjam Member Reviews

What an interesting piece here. Nice arrangement, and the lyrics are very positive. It has that I'm gonna try and win feel. Nice drums/percussions. If there is a project calling for this type of song, this would be a great pitch for it. Nice job overall. Good quality recording and instrumentation. All my best ~M

Has a fast pace, that doesn't jar the nerves, and an interesting syncopation with drums.

Let's Race

Written by Ken Matthiesen 02/20/09 copyright 2009

Just strapped on my two oh oh twos
Laces pulled tight, feel just right
All stretched out, I'm good and loose
It's just me and the road, let race

Still miles to go, find a pace
Get into stride and feel the heat
Head phones blaring, run to the beat
Good to be on the road, let's race

I gotta run run run I'm gonna run run run
Gonna run right away
Gonna run all day
Gonna win this race

My number pinned onto my chest
Make today a personal best
All the training put to the test
Out here on the road, let's race

Heart's pounding really starting to sweat
I'm in the lead, no one else a threat
The finish line is coming up fast
Still out in front, no one to pass

I gotta run run run I'm gonna run run run
Gonna run right away
Gonna run all day
Gonna win this race
