Lyrics
When I was twelve I got in to a fight with the bully down the street.
He was bigger than me but I thought I could take him, I was quicker on my feet.
He had me down and almost won that battle, I had just about given up.
And I was hoping that my daddy would step in and even things up.
But daddy just looked and smiled at me and I knew I was on my own.
So I knuckled down and I turned it around and sent the bully running home.
Later on when I asked my daddy why he didn't help me out of that jam,
he just smiled again and he told me, "Son, I was giving you a chance for glory."
A chance for glory when it seems all hope is gone.
Another story yet to put the ending on.
A simple courage in the face of my worst fears, is a chance for glory in the coming years.
As I got older I often thought about the lesson I learned on that day.
And when things got tough I would find me some courage, I would always find a way.
But I was put to the test when I laid him to rest, I was beaten down once again.
And deep down in my heart there was a broken part. Another chance for glory.
So I did my best to live up to the test, yeah I gave it all of my might.
But I couldn't do it, it was just too tough, so I gave up late one night.
When I woke up things had turned around and I knew that my Father came through.
And I looked up at Him, and I gave Him a grin, and said, "Daddy all the glory to you!"
A chance for glory when it seems all hope is gone.
Another story yet to put the ending on.
A simple courage in the face of my worst fears, is a chance for glory in the coming years.
It's another chance for glory in the coming years.
