Lyrics

THE OLD LIBRARY
(Copyright 2003)

Verse

I was talkin' to my Grandpa about the years of his life
And all the things he'd seen and done---since 1905
A wealth of information, wasn't much he hadn?t seen
He'd said, I'm just like an old library full of books, on just about everything
Then he said someday when It's time for him, to move on to the other side
It'll be like the old library, burnt down, with all the books inside

Chorus

The old library, it burnt down today---
With all the memories of a lifetime, gone up in flames---
Like the old library, well he has gone away---
And what remains is the love and what he had to say---
Well I wish I'd spent more time-----at the old library

Verse

He'd talk about the old days, those stories from the past
Sometimes they could make you cry, but usually made you laugh
He'd seen the world go twice to war, the great depression, Lindbergh's flight
Man on the Moon, Vietnam ---the passing of his wife
I knew someday his time would come, when he'd be called back home
But what he left behind, is the treasure you find, in the stories that he told

Chorus

The old library, well it burnt down today---
With all the memories of a lifetime, gone up in flames---
Like the old library, he has gone away---
But he left us some memories of yesterday
Well I wish I'd spent more time-----at the old library

Outro

The old library
I'll miss the old library, the old library
Talk to you later Granpap(Spoken)
