Story Behind The Song
Some time ago there was an article printed in the paper about Igor Larionov and his son. Their closeness, their love for skating, and their father-son relationship. I watched as Igor?s daughters sang the National Anthem one night and knew that Igor was a proud papa. I could only imagine what it?s like to leave your children at home and go out on the road. With this in mind, I wrote a song for them. A tribute to all the hockey families, for the wives and children who have to stay home while dad is out on a road trip.
Song Description
A hockey player is on the road and away from the son he adores. He's trying to explain why daddy isn't home.

Lyrics
Thank God I?ll Be Home Soon
On the road again
Have to earn my pay
Miss you son, Miss you everyday
Wish you could come along
Hold your head up strong
Miss your mom, miss your sisters too
In my heart you're always near
Today it's great to hear
You're doing fine everyday,
I just called so I could say
Chorus:
I thank God, I'll be home soon
One more day without you
Is more than I can do
I lie awake at night
I love you everyday
Dream of you and I together
Keeps the pain away
I'm close as I can be
Just turn on the TV
Watch me skate, Just for you tonight
I'll work hard to score a goal
And work for puck control
To make you proud and understand
Love you son, so once again
I thank God, I'll be home soon
One more day without you
Is more than I can do
I lie awake at night
I love you everyday
Dream of you and I together
Keeps the pain away
Oh now tell me son, All about you
I'll hold you close tomorrow night
Always be there for you
I love you son, We'll be, all right
