Story Behind The Song
I was playing in a bar one night and noticed an older gentleman take a seat at the bar. He was interesting from the start with a country western look - leather vest, boots, jeans. But the best part was how he just sat there and looked around the whole time, just taking it all in. He didn't say a word. I thought that was so cool so I scribbled the first couple of lines on a napkin -"old eyes keep quiet, this old world tossed you around..." Then the next morning when I sat down to see what I could come up with for a song i started thinking about my grandparents and it became sort of a fictional story of love that made it through the depression and is still going strong. And how, sadly, in this crazy world the ways of the Old Eyes are becoming a thing of the past as we're running out of their kind.

Lyrics
Old Eyes are done cryin?
This old world tossed you around
Old Eyes keep quiet
The silence don?t make a sound
You just wanna live, you just wanna live
Without all the old distractions
You can see all there is to see
You just wanna live, just wanna live
Just like in your prime
Old Eyes
The depression is over
It seems so simple looking back now
How one thing leads to another
And memories linger like the wind blowin? shadows from the ground
All the old times, all the old times
Ice skating in the winter
Finding starfish on the beach
This crazy world, crazy, crazy world
Is running out of your kind
Old Eyes
Freedom came slowly
Family ties you right down
And the money never came easy
Though most of the best things were free anyhow
All the old times, all the old times
Did you think it would be forever
When you met on the beach?
This crazy world, crazy, crazy world
Is running out of your kind
Old Eyes
