Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song for my EP, "I Am", which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart in the country, got to #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts, and #53 on the overall iTunes charts. It is a story about realizing you can do anything and choosing to believe that you are powerful and incredible. It is a very moving ballad that will make anyone feel better about themselves, and reflect on times in their life where they did not feel that way. I wrote it after a break-up, about realizing you can be okay without someone you thought you'd spend forever with. I really wrote it to show anyone, particularly teen girls, that they can do anything they set their mind to and that just because they're going through a rough time doesn't mean there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel.

Song Description

"I Am" is a powerful pop ballad that tells the story of anyone who is realizing who they are. It takes the listener on a journey through how we see ourselves and can really be applied to any situation or overcoming any obstacle, such as a break-up or personal trauma. "It's okay if you have to break your heart to learn who you are... you need the dark for the world to see your stars." The parts of us that are human and painful and messy are the parts that make us able to sympathize with one another and uniquely beautiful. The message is especially powerful for teens because it makes them feel like they can do anything and that they're beautiful and incredible just the way they are.
