I was on the plane to Los Angeles with my songbook, and I thought of the unlikely scenario of someone stealing the musician's music box and what they would do if that happened.

Lyrics
Somebody Stole My 6-String
V1: Well it started out just a normal night in Nashville
I?d just got done to a crowd of screaming fans
I walked up to the owner for my cash bill
But when I came back, I couldn?t find my band
Chorus:
Somebody stole my 6-string
I couldn?t find the thief in sight
My daddy gave that soul to me
I ain?t losing it tonight
Nobody witnessed this thing
They all just smiled and drank a brew
I?ve got a show tomorrow morn?
Now what the hell am I gonna do?
V2: Well at least I knew the first thing that I must do
I downed 3 straight margaritas in a minute flat
Then the bartender asked me why I was so blue
So I told that man the problem that I had
Chorus
Bridge: I know I ain?t been perfect, God knows I?ve had my share
But I feel like my hearts been ripped out and no one seems to care.
V3: Just then I felt a soft hand on my shoulder startle me
I saw a winged angel with my 6-string in his hands
He said the Lord had sent him down to get it back from the thief
Because no one could play that 6-string like I did.
Chorus 2: Somebody stole my 6-string
I couldn?t find the thief in sight
My daddy gave that soul to me
But I didn?t lose it tonight
Nobody witnessed this thing
Good thing the Lord loves country too
I?ll never take my eyes again off that thing I do.
Chorus 3: Somebody stole my 6-string
I?ll never walk that road again
When I?m finished playing
I?ll put it in its case and carry it
(Last part same as last part of chorus 2).
