Lyrics
Small Towns
Songwriter: Joseph Jackson
Grew up in a small town in Tennessee
Most of us were like family
Everywhere you went there wasn?t anyone you didn?t know
The stores and restaurants lined town square
The railroad tracks cut right through there
If you needed anything it was the only place you needed to go
But as the years went by I noticed things starting to change
Some small towns don?t stay small towns
It seems the city limits and everything in it has grown
Some small towns they don?t stay small towns
No matter what the changes it will always be the place we call home
As I was growing up the farmers were growing old
The town was filling up and farms got sold
And they started building houses like they were going out of style
These new outdoor malls and big store chains
Were taking over land we thought would never change
The wide and longer roads take you through the new traffic lights
As the years went by everything continued to change
Some small towns don?t stay small towns
It seems the city limits and everything in it has grown
Some small towns they don?t stay small towns
No matter what the changes it will always be the place we call home
After graduation I started chasing my dream to get out and sing
When I come back around to this small town, it isn?t hard to see
That small towns don?t stay small towns
It seems the city limits and everything in it has grown
Some small towns they don?t stay small towns
No matter what the changes it will always be the place we call home
