Story Behind The Song
When my son Jonathan was 5, he was at the peak of his "oops" phase...many times a day he would do something resulting in damage, completely without evil intent, and face the wrath of mom. The look on his face after so many acts of discipline was comical and tragic at once, and I immediately saw the song possibilities...(I was tempted to tell him that he could just as well get used to it, since women punish by nature, but that wouldn't be fair to his mom, who's pretty darn lenient with me...)
Song Description
Whether you're 5, or 35, women have a way of setting you straight that is about as humbling and frustrating as anything a guy can experience...

Lyrics
That face she's wearin's no dark disguise
She won't make no compromise
She won't give no ground, tonight
She's a hard bargain
I win to lose, stand to fall
And I don't see no point at all
Don't feel much better standing tall
Just a bigger target
That's all
(lead)
(chorus)
Whoa, it's getting to be a habit
Taking my lumps, and backing away
No, getting through the static
There's lightning behind the rain
There's lightning behind the rain
Never know when the axe will fall
Standing in the corner, face the wall
There's just no walking until I crawl
That's a hard bargain
(bridge)
...She's so hard...
