Story Behind The Song
I saw a blue boxcar one day. It belonged to the Louisville and Nasnville Railroad....The L&N. There, written in yellow cursive at an angle on the right-hand side of the car was the railroad's slogan - "The Dixie Line". I thought that was down-right poetic and just built the song around that phrase. It's about leaving home for the bright lights of the big city and then realizing home is where your true wealth lies. So, you get back there just as fast as you can......on The Dixie Line!
