Story Behind The Song
We had a popular 70's band in Madison Wisconsin that played all over the Midwest, St. Louis, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Montana, Omaha...
The band was managed by David Lewis and then Ken Adamany.
We were a cover band that also played our own music. Never signing that elusive recording contract, the band finally ended in the early 1980's
This song for me was kind of a closure on the idea of Punch ever having another reunion, as we had a handful of successful reunions but never entertained the idea of reforming, like many 70's acts did. Our fans certainly wanted us to!
When I started this song, I wanted to record something that I thought represented what Punch was, or would become...
from the "open-high-hat" drum groove, the solid and fluent bass lines, the heavy and clean sounding guitars, the dueling lead guitars, slide guitar solos, the song simulated what I thought we would have become had we stayed together and had a recording career.
The lyric idea paid tribute to our members and crew-
Rich (Vito), Gil, Brian, Mark, Hannibal, Hino, Sonny, Richard, David, Billy, Mikey, Sugar Bear... who else?
One I missed was Bruce (former guitarist)
I mention the first Punch original song that Gil brought to the band "Start to play" in the first verse.
We had great times, played packed shows and opened for national bands!
Those days of rock n roll...

Lyrics
The car pulls up, and we're ready to go
It's miles and miles to our next show to play, another stage
There was Gilly and Brian and Little Vito
And all we knew was Rock n Roll to play... start to play
But for now we hold, those days of Rock n Roll
Going down that road, and living for the next show
If it's too loud, you're too old
There was Hino, Hannibal, Sonny and Dave
Mark, Billy, Richard, and Sharp, and that Sugar Bear
They say hindsight's 2020 now
I'm glad we made it through somehow to say, those were the days
But for now we hold, those days of Rock n Roll
Going down that road, and living for the next show
If it's too loud, you're too old
Now we're looking back on a Punch scrapbook
Memories of the days we used to play, Don't fade away
But for now we hold, those days of Rock n Roll
Going down that road, and living for the next show
But for now we hold, those days of Rock n Roll
Going down that road, and living for the next show
