Song Description

This song references the old Chinese proverb; "Its a curse to be born in interesting times" and looks at this in terms of living in this modern world.

Story Behind the Song

Its was written shortly after my son was born and I was very aware of the world he was being born into.

Lyrics

Verse 1:
This is my corner of this world
I share it with my wife and son
Dug in the garden
The earth was wet
Sometimes this is all I need
An island in this insane sea
But this whole wide world is at my door
Couldn't it wait just a little more, Cause

Chorus:
Its a curse to be born in interesting times 2x
Guilty witness to so many crimes
Its a curse to be born in interesting times

Verse 2
Here in the trenches day to day
Don't trust my leaders or the news
Don't know who to believe or what to do, numb and confused
I don't have no answers
No five year plan
I'm gonna dig in my garden
Till I feel my heart beat,
taste my sweat.
That's enough for today ,cause

Chorus:
Its a curse to be born in interesting times 2x
Guilty witness to so many crimes
Its a curse to be born in interesting times

Songs of our sons in a distant time
Will sit in judgment
Far from the fight
They'll pick at the bones
Of out tumults and wars
And say, "Why the hell didn't we do more?" Why didn't we do more?

Chorus:
