Haunted Highway

Story Behind The Song

Mike Kuhl and I decided to write this song about a story of Hank Williams. David Allan Coe wrote "The Ride" and this song is about that song! The story is about a singer who won't give up; she keeps plugging it out and going against the odds.

Lyrics

Some heard David Allan Coe singin about "The Ride"
Some people try to make it, they got have it deep inside;
To keep on goin, always knowin, that their dreams can become real

I'm gonna ride this haunted highway
I'm gonna sing my heart and soul;
From country, bluegrass, R&B some blues and some rock 'n roll;
With this old guitar in a beat up bar playin it night and day
to make it down this haunted highway

It don't matter where you come from
all that matters is where you're going;
Your hands are rough and calloused and the lines on your face are showing
how hard it is in the music biz
but I won't ever ask "what if?"
at the end of this lonely road - cause

I'm gonna ride this haunted highway
I'm gonna sing my heart and soul;
From country, bluegrass, R&B some blues and some rock 'n roll;
With this old guitar in a beat up bar playin it night and day
to make it down this haunted highway

Can you hear the ghost of Elvis sing
or see Johnny Cash's fiery ring?
It's lightn up the night
makes your spirit come alive
(instr)
I'm gonna ride this haunted highway
I'm gonna sing my heart and soul;
From country, bluegrass, R&B some blues and some rock 'n roll;
With this old guitar in a beat up bar playin it night and day
to make it down this haunted highway
