Story Behind The Song
I went through something similar in my marriage, and used to say to my wife: "we have the perfect relationship: I take and you give." After nearly losing her, I repented and realized my mistakes - and won her back. We just celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Song Description

Lyrics
(Verses: Male sings all verses)
V1. Well, I checked to see, what's left of me, now that you're gone.
A leather vest, my room's a mess, no will to carry on.
Like a cowboy song, everything's gone wrong.
I hope that you'll forgive.
And, come back home, where you belong,
To the house where love once lived.
(Chorus: Female sings all choruses)
(1) Livin' without you don't come easy.
(2) Seems like my smile has gone away.
(3) You say that you'll be different, but I've heard that be-fore.
(4) I wanna' live in a house, where love gives.
V2. A cheatin' night, it felt so right, then I ran outta' luck.
You found her number on my cell, her lipstick in my truck.
I thought we had the perfect marriage:
I would take, you would give.
So why the hell would you come back here:
To the house where THAT love lives?
(Chorus)
V3. I miss your cookin' every night, its so hard to live alone.
A microwave, a TV set...just a waitin' by the phone.
I've been watchin' Oprah re-runs,
Learnin' to shed real tears.
While I survive on the three food groups:
Pizza, Kit-Kats...and beer!
(Chorus)
V4. Well, I realized, it was no surprise, you're the only one for me.
Your gypsy soul, gentle smile...so I'm down on bended knee.
We both know, talk is cheap,
But this time I'm positive.
If you come back, you'll find this ole' place,
Is now the House Where Love Lives!
(Final Chorus only)
(1) Livin' without you don't come easy.
(2) Seems like my smile has gone away.
(3) You say that you'll be different, so, I'll give you one more chance. PAUSE
(4) I'm comin' home to the house where love lives
(5) She's comin' home to the house where love lives (male sings this line only)
(6) I'm comin' h-o-m-e to the h-o-u-s-e where love lives
