Story Behind The Song
Old Crow- Our inability to escape becoming our fathers. It speaks in conversation between son and father (the crow). Knowing that I will someday have to say goodbye to my dad, I know I will be able to hear his voice in every word I say and see him looking back at me in the mirror inevitably.

Lyrics
Old Crow
The same old crow that I pass everyday
sits on wire with a birds eye view of me
I'd love to see what he sees
Day after day he says the same old thing
"god bless you son, find joy in all your days"
then he laughs and flies away
But with my head held down
And eyes to the ground
He follows me around this town
Through my ups and downs
So the day arrived
I held my stride
Looked up and asked the crow just why
He's been with me all this time
He said "son I've been there since the day you came into this world"
And I'll be right here through your smiles and tears, if you need me just look in the mirror
And May you know no fear
I Said "Crow do you know what's it like to have feet, not wings"
He said "son there's no better thing than a voice to sing"
You'll find us all around
And we're watching now
We're not holy no
We become the voice inside you
Crows grow old and they die
But some day you'll say those five words
"we'll finally see eye to eye"
"Despite your lonely forge, no man is an island
But you'll understand when you're a father; son, like I"
Now I pass through this town in a strange way
Hold up my face to embrace the light of day
Waiting to hear the crow say...
But he's flown from the wire now he's gone away
Am I ready to face the day without his praise
Then I remember he'd say
"Keep your head held high
And eyes to the sky
I'll be there even when I fly
Away for the last time"
"and Life's not about the ups and downs
Or every leaf fallen on the ground
Notice the trees to which they're bound"
In the reflection in the mirror now I see
The eyes of the Old Crow starring back at me
You'll find us all around
And we're watching now
We're not holy, no
We become the voice inside you
Crows grow old and they die
But some day you'll say those five words
" We finally see eye to eye"
Despite your lonely forge, every man is a child
You'll understand when you're a father; son, like I
