Story Behind The Song
My brother in law at 41 thought he'd met the woman who he would marry. She broke their engagement and he was really crushed. I'd never seen a man so bereft. I got off of the phone with him and pulled into a parking lot and wrote this song down in about a minute. I wanted to help him and give him hope through his pain.
Song Description
A song of a man who gets his heart broken late in life and is ready to give up on love. Someone who cares about him tells him, don't give up on love, she's coming soon. Hope springs eternal, he just needs to get out of his own way and lick his wounds... time heals all wounds.

Lyrics
I hung up the phone and could still hear the sorrow in your voice
I needed to do something, but I knew I had no choice.
And now I walk around with your heavy heart.
And I can't shake it or break it apart
Oh, I never knew a man could feel... so much pain
You're a lonely man who woke up so late in life
Wanting laughter from children to share with a loving wife
A caring and a loving wife, who would give you a sweet new life
But then love let you down and now you're drowning in the rain
Chorus:
People say hope springs eternal
So hard to believe it inside
But don't go so far into yourself, that you miss what comes in time
Your will to trust in love remains uninspired
And the cards you were dealt left so much to be desired
But on your own you became a man
A man with a vision and a plan
Oh, believe me when I tell you that man, he's gonna love again
Chorus:
People say hope springs eternal
So hard to believe it inside
Even though you're bruised and broken
Don't miss what comes in time
People say hope springs eternal
So hard to believe it inside
Inside where you're bruised and broken
Don't miss what comes in time...
What comes in time
