Story Behind The Song
Every night I walk the breathtakingly beautiful back roads of Vermont with my dog, enjoying every season and writing songs. I got very emotional thinking about the day that she (my dog) will no longer be able to walk with me and this song is the result.
Song Description
The singer walks the back country roads of Vermont in the fall and winter all alone- reminiscing in a dream sequence about the happier times of spring and summer when his now departed love walked beside him.

Lyrics
I was walkin? I was walkin? through the maples on the hill in the autumn
I was yearnin? not discernin? as a leaf fell to the ground not returnin?
I was walkin? I was walkin? down a wintry country road dusk was dawnin?
Snow was fallin? the wind was callin? for the sun to rise again in the mornin?
Once upon a time we were alive and so aware
We walked this road together back when spring was in the air
You were always there the love that we would share
I remember when I?d never heard the word ?alone?
We walked the hilltop hand in hand the summer breeze would blow
How was I to know I?d miss you so?
I was talkin? I was talkin? to myself once again do it often
With my head high and my tears dry ?til we walk the road again I?ll say goodbye
Until next time yes it?s goodbye
