Don't Drink the Water

Story Behind The Song

Four years ago I was excommunicated from the Jehovah's Witness' faith and disowned by my family because of my sexuality. In the years to follow, I wrote the song on my cd "The Afflicted" as I struggled with drugs, thoughts of suicide, self-acceptance and the death of my estranged father to colon cancer. I wrote this song as a satirical take on the homophobia that I faced from my family and the Church

Song Description

This song is a satirical take on political and religious homophobia. The song pokes fun at the belief that homosexuality is a contagious disease. The word "Abomination" as used by the Church to describe homosexuality is also used in the bible to describe shellfish :-)

Lyrics

Don?t Drink The Water

You?re looking kind of sickly
Don?t drink the water
They say it?s contagious
You?ll end up like the others
Like Eve that little vixen
Couldn?t resist the pleasure
Saw that snake and had to get a taste
Her apple killed millions

I think I caught it
And what a wicked desire
I think I want it
Lay me in this leper?s tomb
Cast me out before it spreads to you

We live in scary times, you can?t have a mind
The paranoia in the air is so thick
Best stay away from me, ?cuz this disgusting disease
This abomination might make you sick
You?ll like leather toys and start to lust for the boys
Better lock yourself up, you could turn from just one sip
Don?t drink the water

Look out Here come the Bushes
Lining up their robots
Do you pay your Christian slaves?
Which one of my rights do you want?
?Weapons of mass destruction
Everywhere evil?s lurking
Jesus saves, and hell?s a place
For gays and unwed mothers

Your little black book
It?s watching your every move
You must consult it
How should you live, can you dance?
Whose in your bed, whose in your pants?

We live in scary times, you can?t have a mind
The paranoia in the air is so thick
Best stay away from me, ?cuz this disgusting disease
This abomination might make you sick
You?ll like leather toys and start to lust for the boys
Better lock your sons up, they could turn from just one sip
Don?t drink the water

Throw me away from you
I?ll pollute your breeding pool
The thought that I couldn?t choose
Threatens your simple truth

It?s evolution
You best be watching your back
Can?t stop what?s coming
You hypocrites, go take your whores
And your contradicting Gods

We live in scary times, you can?t have a mind
The paranoia in the air is so thick
Best stay away from me, ?cuz this disgusting disease
This abomination might make you sick
You?ll like leather toys and start to lust for the boys
Better lock yourself up, you could turn from just one sip
Don?t drink the water
