Half written in Chicago, while a friend and I were hitchhiking across country, the other half written in Bloomington Indiana. Inspired by the life of a transient, roming from town to town, with nothing but his best friend and his guitar.

Lyrics
The American Dream
Words and Music: Inaiah Lujan
Headin' north for the winter
Ignored all my friends
And I can't promise you the place I end
Will be the same place I began
And I ain't got no money
To me that means I'm free
To go where I wanna, to say what I mean
To do whatever I please
And I'll give thanks to the cities
Who feed me and keep me clean
To Hell with all the rest of you
Destroying the American Dream
I'll walk across this country
Through winds and pouring rain
Over bridges and highways, on busses and trains
Surf Amber Waves of Grains.
If home is where the heart is
Then mines beatin' on the road
In far away spots, through dark junk yard lots
Where the transients welcome me home
And we'll stroll through the cities
Through villages, and one horse towns
Lord help me when the devil comes...
And tries to, tries and tries to pull me down
Headin' north for the winter
Ignored all my friends
And I can't promise you the place I end
Will be the same place I began
It's time for revolution
my best friend he'll agree with me
It's time to reclaim what is rightfully ours
It's time to truely be free
And we'll give thanks to the heavens
When God sheds his grace on thee
To Hell with all the rest of you
Destroying the American Dream
